About the University
Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University (formerly known as Allahabad State University) is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the State of Uttar Pradesh, committed to academic excellence, innovation, research and holistic student development. Established on 17 June 2016 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the University was envisioned as a centre of quality education, inclusive learning and advanced research, catering to students from diverse social and academic backgrounds. Since its inception, the University has steadily emerged as an important centre of teaching, learning, research and innovation in the region.
In 2019, the University was renamed after the eminent educationist, scholar and visionary Prof. Rajendra Singh, popularly known as “Rajju Bhaiya”. The name reflects the University's commitment to his enduring ideals of knowledge, discipline, nationalism, integrity and social responsibility. Guided by these values, the University continues to foster an intellectually vibrant and inclusive academic environment that promotes excellence in education, cutting-edge research, innovation, skill development and the holistic development of its students.
A significant milestone in the University's academic journey was its accreditation with NAAC Grade A in the first cycle of assessment in 2025, reflecting its commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, effective governance, research, infrastructure and student-centric education. This achievement further strengthens the University's position as an emerging centre of higher education and research in Uttar Pradesh.
Since its establishment, the University has continuously worked towards creating an academic environment that nurtures intellectual growth, ethical values and professional competence. With a progressive outlook and student-centric approach, the University has become a preferred destination for higher education in the region. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated and doctoral programmes in various disciplines to meet the evolving educational and professional aspirations of students.
The University presently comprises 36 University Teaching Departments functioning under 07 Faculties and is affiliated with more than 765 colleges spread across four districts (Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur) of Prayagraj Division of Uttar Pradesh. Every year, nearly 5.65 lakh students pursue their education under the academic umbrella of the University. This extensive academic network makes the University one of the significant centres of higher learning in the state, contributing immensely to the educational development of society.
The academic structure of the University is designed to promote multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning. The University offers programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Agriculture, Computer Science, Social Sciences, AI and Data Science, Vocational Studies/Skill Enhancements and various professional courses. The curriculum is regularly updated in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Education Policy (NEP) and industry requirements to ensure quality and relevance in higher education.
